Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition

Trophoblastic Bleeding and Unstable Fetus (Threatened Abortion), also known as threatened abortion, is a category of gynecological diseases in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). According to the records in "Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine," Trophoblastic bleeding and unstable fetus refer to the condition during pregnancy where there is intermittent, small amounts of vaginal bleeding, which may come and go, accompanied by symptoms such as low back pain, abdominal pain, a sensation of downward Sinking in the lower abdomen, and instability of fetal movements. Severe cases may present with symptoms like excruciating low back pain and abdominal pain that is resistant to palpation. This condition is often attributed to deficiencies in kidney, Qi, and blood, and requires TCM differential diagnosis and treatment.

Trophoblastic bleeding and unstable fetus is a common gynecological disease in TCM clinical practice, with its core pathogenesis being either kidney deficiency or Qi and blood weakness, leading to instability of the Chong and Ren channels and the fetus. Common precipitating factors include overexertion, emotional disturbances, and irregular diet. In differential diagnosis, it is essential to distinguish between cold and heat, as well as deficiency and excess. For kidney deficiency, symptoms may include slight vaginal bleeding during pregnancy with pale, dark discharge, low back pain, and abdominal pain. In the case of Qi and blood weakness, symptoms may include slight vaginal bleeding during pregnancy with pale, thin discharge and fatigue. The overall treatment approach should focus on reinforcing the kidney and stabilizing the Chong, replenishing Qi and nourishing blood to ensure fetal stability. In the clinical treatment of trophoblastic bleeding and unstable fetus, the principle of differential diagnosis and treatment should be followed, selecting appropriate treatment methods based on specific patterns to achieve the goal of stabilizing and securing the fetus.
