Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition
Prostatic Hyperplasia (Enuresis)
In traditional Chinese medicine, prostatic hyperplasia is known as "Enuresis," which refers to the condition characterized by the enlargement of the prostate gland leading to urethral stricture, causing difficulties in urination, frequent urination, and urgency. According to the records in "Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine," this disease is often caused by insufficient kidney Qi, downward invasion of damp-heat, and Qi stagnation and blood stasis, and is a common disease in urology.
In clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, the core pathogenesis of prostatic hyperplasia is insufficient kidney Qi, leading to weakened Qi transformation and obstruction of the waterway. Common precipitating factors include aging, emotional disharmony, and irregular diet. During the process of differentiation, it is necessary to differentiate the cold, heat, deficiency, and excess, such as the kidney Yang deficiency syndrome, which is manifested by weak urination, frequent urination at night, cold pain in the lower back and knees; the downward invasion of damp-heat syndrome is manifested by burning pain during urination, frequent and urgent urination, bitter taste in the mouth; and the Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome is manifested by difficulty in urination, abdominal distension, and dark tongue. The overall direction of treatment suggests focusing on warming and reinforcing kidney Yang, clearing heat and promoting diuresis, and promoting Qi and blood circulation to restore kidney Qi and unblock the waterway.

For patients with prostatic hyperplasia and significant symptoms of enuresis, the treatment should pay attention to activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and unblocking the urethra.
