Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition

In traditional Chinese medicine, Jingzhu is known as chronic prostatitis, a category of male genital diseases. According to the "Textbook of Internal Medicine in Traditional Chinese Medicine," Jingzhu is characterized by discomfort and pain in the perineum, lower abdomen, and testicles, accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and whitish discharge after urination. The pathogenesis is often attributed to the accumulation of damp-heat and Qi stagnation with blood stasis, and treatment should focus on clearing heat and dampness, regulating Qi and promoting blood circulation, and unblocking collaterals to relieve pain.

In clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, the core pathogenesis of Jingzhu is the accumulation of damp-heat and Qi stagnation with blood stasis. Common precipitating factors include irregular diet, emotional disturbances, and sedentary lifestyle. During the process of differentiation, attention should be paid to distinguishing the nature of cold and heat, as well as the deficiency and excess. For instance, the damp-heat accumulation pattern is characterized by whitish discharge after urination, frequent urination, and distension and pain in the perineum; while the Qi stagnation with blood stasis pattern is characterized by Sinking and stabbing pain in the lower abdomen and perineum, which worsens with prolonged sitting. The overall direction of treatment suggests that in clinical practice, the treatment of Jingzhu often involves clearing heat and dampness, separating the pure from the turbid, for the damp-heat accumulation pattern; and regulating Qi, promoting blood circulation, and unblocking collaterals to relieve pain for the Qi stagnation with blood stasis pattern. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that adjusting the patient's lifestyle, dietary structure, and emotional management, combined with herbal medicine treatment, can help improve symptoms and enhance the quality of life.
