Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition
In traditional Chinese medicine, "reverse gastritis" (also known as "morning eating, evening vomiting") falls under the category of脾胃病证 (Spleen and Stomach Disorders). According to the records in "Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine," reverse gastritis refers to a condition where patients experience vomiting shortly after eating, with the vomit usually consisting of undigested food, accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal distension, loss of appetite, and so on. This disease is often caused by factors like spleen and stomach coldness, and kidney fire deficiency, and is considered a type of Spleen and Stomach Disorder in traditional Chinese medicine.
In clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, the core pathogenesis of reverse gastritis is attributed to spleen and stomach coldness or kidney fire deficiency. Common triggers include irregular diet, emotional disturbances, and excessive fatigue. During the process of differentiation, attention should be paid to distinguishing between coldness and heat, and deficiency and excess. Spleen and stomach coldness is characterized by abdominal distension after eating, vomiting in the evening after eating in the morning, vomiting undigested food, and so on. Kidney fire deficiency is manifested as chronic reverse gastritis, pale complexion, aversion to cold, and weakness in the lower back and knees. The direction of adjustment suggests that for spleen and stomach coldness, warming the middle and invigorating the spleen, and reducing reverse and harmonizing the stomach should be considered; for kidney fire deficiency, warming and tonifying the kidney fire and warming the spleen to stop vomiting should be the approach. Overall, the treatment of reverse gastritis should follow the principle of syndrome differentiation, selecting appropriate treatment methods based on specific patterns.

Physician's Clinical Insights
For patients with reverse gastritis who experience morning eating and evening vomiting, their yellowish complexion and pale tongue with white coating often indicate a need for invigorating the spleen and harmonizing the stomach to stop vomiting.
