Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition

Jing Feng, also known as infantile convulsion, is a common disease in pediatrics. According to traditional Chinese medicine, Jing Feng is often caused by internal invasion of heat pathogen, disturbing the heart and mind, or due to injury from fright, leading to restlessness of the mind, muscular twitching, and even opisthotonos. The pathogenesis primarily involves the movement of wind due to heat, and the disturbance of the heart and mind.

In clinical practice, Jing Feng is a disease involving multiple internal organs, with the core pathogenesis being the movement of wind due to heat and the disturbance of the heart and mind. Common triggers include external wind-heat, irregular diet, and fright. In the process of differentiation, attention should be paid to distinguishing the nature of cold and heat, as well as the deficiency and excess. For example, the wind-heat moving wind syndrome is characterized by fever, headache, and convulsive confusion, and treatment should focus on expelling wind and clearing heat, calming the wind, and quieting the mind. In contrast, the fright-induced Jing Feng syndrome manifests as convulsions and restlessness of the mind after a sudden fright, and treatment should prioritize calming the mind, tranquilizing the spirit, and calming the wind. The overall direction of treatment suggests adhering to the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine, selecting appropriate treatment methods based on specific patterns, and focusing on harmonizing yin and yang, balancing Qi and blood, to restore the normal physiological function of children.
