Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition
Neck Bi syndrome, also known as cervical spondylosis, is a type of limb meridian disease in traditional Chinese medicine. According to the "Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine," neck bi syndrome primarily manifests as pain, stiffness, and limited mobility in the neck region. The pathogenesis is often associated with kidney and liver deficiency, Qi and blood stasis, and invasion by wind, cold, and dampness. This disease falls under the category of bi syndrome, caused by malnutrition of tendons and bones, and obstruction of meridians.
Neck bi syndrome is a common clinical condition in traditional Chinese medicine, with its core pathogenesis being kidney and liver deficiency, Qi and blood stasis, or invasion of the sinews and bones by wind, cold, and dampness. Common triggers include prolonged poor posture, overexertion, and exposure to wind, cold, and dampness. In the process of differentiation, attention should be paid to distinguishing between cold and heat, deficiency and excess, such as in wind-cold bi syndrome, which presents with stiff and painful neck, limited movement, aversion to cold, and exacerbation with cold; in Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome, the neck is characterized by sharp pain, fixed tender points, worsening at night, and purple tongue; and in kidney and liver deficiency syndrome, there is neck ache, dizziness, tinnitus, and weakness in the lower back and knees. The overall treatment approach suggests dispelling wind and cold, promoting Qi and blood circulation, and tonifying the liver and kidneys, as well as strengthening the tendons and bones. In clinical practice, the treatment of neck bi syndrome focuses on harmonizing Qi and blood, unblocking meridians, and restoring the normal function of tendons and bones.

Physician's Clinical Insights
Patients with neck bi syndrome often suffer from Qi and blood stasis, and the key to treatment is to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. However, it is necessary to avoid overly potent medication.
