Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition
Tremor Syndrome (Parkinson's Disease/essential tremor), also known as tremor, is a type of disease in the liver and gallbladder system in traditional Chinese medicine. According to the records in "Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine," tremor syndrome refers to the involuntary tremors of the head or limbs of patients, with varying degrees of movement amplitude. It is often accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, headache, irritability, and easy anger. This syndrome is generally caused by Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney, and the internal movement of liver wind, which is characterized by both deficiency and excess.
In clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, the core pathogenesis of tremor syndrome is Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney, and the internal movement of liver wind. Common precipitating factors include emotional disorders, aging, and excessive physical and sexual exhaustion. In the process of differentiation, attention should be paid to distinguishing the nature of cold and heat, as well as the deficiency and excess. For instance, the wind-yang internal movement syndrome is characterized by head and limb tremors, dizziness, headache, irritability, and easy anger; while the phlegm-heat activating wind syndrome is characterized by head and limb tremors, chest tightness, abundant sputum, dizziness, and heavy-headedness. The overall treatment approach suggests that in the clinical treatment of tremor syndrome, attention should be given to nourishing Yin and subduing Yang, calming the liver, and extinguishing the wind, while adopting corresponding methods of clearing heat, resolving phlegm, or relaxing tendons and stopping tremors based on different patterns. Traditional Chinese medicine holds that the treatment of tremor syndrome should focus on holistic treatment, balancing Yin and Yang, adjusting the functions of the internal organs, and restoring the normal physiological state of the body.
Common Syndrome Types and Key Points of Differentiation
风阳内动证
Main Manifestations:头摇肢颤,不能自主,眩晕头胀,烦躁易怒
Management Approach:镇肝息风,舒筋止颤
痰热动风证
Main Manifestations:头摇肢颤,胸闷痰多,头晕头重
Management Approach:清热化痰,平肝息风
The above syndrome information is based on traditional Chinese medicine textbooks and clinical standards. Specific differentiation should be completed by a practicing traditional Chinese medicine physician in person.
Physician's Clinical Insights
For patients with tremor syndrome, it is often necessary to carefully observe the amplitude of the tremors and whether there is muscle rigidity to differentiate between Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney and the mutual binding of phlegm-heat.
