Traditional Chinese Medicine Definition

Tinea, a type of external surgery disease in traditional Chinese medicine, refers to a condition caused by external pathogenic invasion, internal heat accumulation, or blood and Qi stasis. It is characterized by symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, pain, and ulceration on the skin or mucous membranes. According to the records in "Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine," the formation of tinea is often related to insufficient vital energy and invasion by pathogenic factors, manifesting as local poor circulation of Qi and blood and accumulation of heat and toxicity in the skin.

In clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, the core pathogenesis of tinea is the invasion of pathogenic factors and the obstruction of Qi and blood circulation. Common precipitating factors include external invasion of the six evil factors, irregular diet, and emotional disturbances. During the differentiation of symptoms, attention should be paid to the following key points:

1. Heat-cold, deficiency-excess: The heat-toxicity accumulation syndrome is characterized by local redness, swelling, heat, and pain, accompanied by fever, thirst, constipation, and red urine; the fire-toxicity hyperactivity syndrome is characterized by a high and swollen ulcer with severe pain and high fever, accompanied by thirst and restlessness; the yin-deficiency and fire-activity syndrome is characterized by a flat ulcer with a scattered base, which is difficult to heal after ulceration.

2. Key points for differentiation: Observe the color, hardness, pain level, and local temperature of the tinea, and make a comprehensive judgment in combination with systemic symptoms.
